This afternoon I held my second-ever studio recital at the Front Room Campus Coffeehouse in OU’s shiny new Baker Center. I love the idea of the coffeehouse environment, but the performance space at Donkey Coffee & Espresso (where my last recital was held) is just too small to accommodate 20-plus students and their families. In addition to being a bigger room, the Front Room also has a lot of natural light, which gives it a nice open feeling especially on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The house sound man Tim Eppley was extremely helpful and understood the needs of the performers. Overall, I think it was a perfect location for the type of recital I like to present, and I may well explore setting up a series of recital dates, say once a quarter, at the Front Room.

Below are some quick notes I made to share with my students so they can be well-organized and prepared going into their next jury.

Students, please remember that there will be no guitar lessons from Saturday March 17 through Saturday March 24. Lessons will resume on Monday March 26. See you then.
I’ve updated the course syllabus for students studying with me at the University of Rio Grande. I may eventually start a page dedicated to Rio activities, but for now I’ll just post things as they come up.

Juries will be held on Wednesday, December 13. Sign up sheets are posted accross from Dr. Lawrence’s office. Please sign up for a morning time if at all possible so I can attend. (The earlier the better!) Jury forms are here if you need them. Please have three copies ready for the jury panel, and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
