Friends and Neighbors:
I’ll be offering Adult Group Guitar Class at Athens Community Music School again this Fall. If you have ever wanted to play the guitar or just need to brush up on your existing skills this is a great opportunity to do it. Classes will focus on basic guitar techniques and vocabulary with the goal of getting students playing a selection of well-known songs. Classes will begin on Tuesday September 19 at 7:10pm.
In addition to guitar classes, ACMS is also now offering group classes in mandolin, banjo and bass. All classes have great instructors and share a common repertoire that will allow students to get together and play songs together at scheduled after-class jam sessions!
Finally, if you have children and are looking for musical experiences for them to participate in, there are Athens Children’s Chorus and KidSing! Taught by Melanie Horne, children in ACC and KidSing learn to sing and harmonize using a variety of fun songs and musical games, and I know they have a great time doing it!
If you know of anyone who might be interested in the classes feel free to pass the information along…
For more info or to register:
Call 593-4241 or visit the ACMS website.
Don’t wait! The Fall registration deadline is Monday September 18!
Thanks,
John

Coming up in January:
I’ll be teaching two levels of Intro to Guitar for Adults via Athens Community Music School. If you have ever wanted to play the guitar or if you need to brush up on your existing skills, this is a great opportunity at a low low price. Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings at Ohio University School of Music. Registration forms for the classes may be downloaded from the ACMS website. Please note that there is a $25.00 late fee for applications received after January 13, so don’t wait until the last minute to register!
On Friday January 13 I’ll be playing Donkey Coffee & Espresso with guests Jake Householder, and Princes of Hollywood Tristan Kinsley & Harlan Dalzell. We’ll each play separate sets and then join forces for a few tunes at the end of the evening. Should be a great time!
