Friends and Neighbors:

This week I have two dates with The Remonko/Bastin Jazztet!

The Jazztet features trumpeter/percussionist Ernie Bastin and drummer Guy Remonko (of Los Viejos fame) with bassist Terry Douds and guitarist John Horne (that’s me) providing harmonic support. We play a wide variety of styles including blues, bebop, and latin grooves by composers such as Wes Montgomery, Wynton Marsalis, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. I think we’ve struck a nice balance that both casual listeners and jazz aficionados will appreciate. I hope you can come and listen!

Update June 13, 2007
Here are a few photos from the library gig. The APL turned out to be a really nice venue, and I think we all had a really wonderful time! In the last two photos are Azusa and Polly, two of my guitar students.

I really enjoyed my time playing at the Merchants & Artists Tour last night. I met a lot of great people and even made it into today’s edition of The Marietta Times.

The afternoon’s thunderstorms had moved east and skies were clearing as Marietta’s first Merchants & Artists Walk of the season began Friday evening.

I’ve recently uncovered some rare footage of one of my all-time favorite guitarists, Michael Hedges. Enjoy.

Over the weekend I’ve moved johnhorneguitar.com to a new host: BlueHost.com. Fortunately things went pretty smoothly, but I know the domain is not yet fully propagated, and I have yet to receive some of the emails that have been sent my way. If you desperately need to reach me, and don’t want to wait until your email lands in my inbox, use the form on the Contact John page. That seems to work. Also, if you notice anything that’s broken since the switch please let me know. There are a few blog posts that are missing their accompanying photos and the ear-training doesn’t always seem to be working for me, but hopefully all that will be cleaned up in the next few weeks.
