I’ve added a new page to the site: Used Items For Sale.
Like most musicians, I always have a few instruments and other pieces of gear around that I just don’t play that often. All items are gently used and in good condition. Photos and additional details are available upon request. Currently items for sale are listed only here at johnhorneguitar.com but I may also decide to list some items at amazon.com or ebay in the future. If this happens, I’ll provide links to the online shop or auction. Items For Sale will remain accessible via the menu in the sidebar.
Jazz Ensemble to perform tonight
The Jazz Ensemble from the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College will be in concert on Tuesday, April 17. The performance will begin at 8 p.m. in the Berry Fine and Performing Arts Center on the Rio Grande campus.
The jazz ensemble is made up of Rio Grande students, and is led by director Chris Kenney. The group is known for its outstanding jazz performances, but this concert will feature something a little different.
Special guest soloist John Horne will be joining the Jazz Ensemble for the upcoming show, and area residents will enjoy hearing this well-known regional performer.
Horne teaches guitar at Rio Grande, and performs often with his guitar throughout the region. Kenney asked the relatively new Rio Grande instructor if he would play with the Jazz Ensemble, in order to help the students learn more about jazz and to bring something special to the performance.
“He is a really incredible jazz guitarist,” Kenney said. “This gives the students an opportunity to hear somebody who is a little bit further along, and it gives them something to shoot for.” Horne will be performing solo pieces during four of the numbers during the concert.
